Neural's Virtualisation solutions provided a cost-effective highly-available alternative to a dedicated server. We provide one of Australia's best virtualisation services, powered by high-end and lightly-loaded VMWare ESX host machines attached to our dedicated VM SAN.

Unlike most virtual machine vendors, we do not oversell our product, and as such your virtual machine will always perform to its rated capacity. All hosts are loaded well below their capacity, and virtual machines with higher CPU usage are relocated to hosts with the most resources available. Failover is configured between hosts, so in the unlikely event of a host failure, your virtual machine will be re-allocated to another host, ensuring high availability.

Our main virtual machine cluster is located in the Brisbane CBD, with redundant power, cooling and connectivity. We also have a DR (disaster recovery) cluster in Fortitude Valley, to which all Virtual machines are replicated and ready to boot.

How it all works

Your virtual machine is comprised of a virtual CPU, hard disk and memory, provided by several high-end servers (known as host machines), which are managed by Neural. Your virtual server can run any operating system, and has its own dedicated internet IP address, or addresses.

A virtual machine has all the capabilities of a real server, with the added advantage of high-availability, as virtual machines are not susceptible to hardware failure. Your virtual machine's virtual hard drive is stored on a highly available storage area network, also managed by Neural, which not only ensures your virtual machine runs at a very high speed, but allows each of the host machines to access your virtual machine, should any of the host machines fail.

Notes

• Excess data usage is charged at $2.50 per gigabyte.
• Disk space of the primary virtual drive must be determined before installation, it cannot be expanded. Additional storage is available after installation via additional vitual disks, or via storage options. The only exceptions is when LVM is used in installation.
